With great pride we announce that Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities has been accredited as a Texas-Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC), a recognition bestowed by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. This new certification, in combination with our Joint Commission accreditation, makes NCMHID one of only 6 Centers in the state of Texas to carry both accreditations.
As the Local Mental Health Authority (LMHA) and Local Intellectual and Disability Authority (LIDDA), Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities services provide a broad array of behavioral healthcare across the entirety of Nueces County. The Center is responsible for the provision, development, and coordination of a range of behavioral, physical, and substance use services. Over the past eight years, our Center has benefited from the 1115 waiver Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment Program (DSRIP), which has allowed us to fund and support a multitude of services. With 1115/DSRIP set to end in 2022, becoming a CCBHC helps support the future of NCMHID as the largest and most comprehensive behavioral health provider in Nueces County.
Operating as a CCBHC further strengthens our Center’s commitment to providing innovative and effective behavioral health, substance use disorder, and developmental disability services in Nueces County.
CCBHC’s are designed to provide comprehensive and holistic treatment and recovery supports to the community, moving expectations from a performance based model of care to an outcome based model of care. Service offerings include but are not limited to the following:
- A comprehensive range of trauma informed and coordinated care, connecting providers and encouraging a full spectrum of physical and behavioral health services.
- Increased availability and accessibility of services, including substance use services, crisis services, case management services and care coordination.
- Intensive, community based mental health care for members of the armed forces and veterans particularly those members located in rural areas.
- Peer support, family support and person centered treatment planning, focusing on the unique needs of every individual that we serve.
The Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities CCBHC certification will be in effect from March 2022 through March 2025.
